Enrolling at St Thomas More

Once your enrolment application is lodged an enrolment interview will be organised with the Principal. This interview gives us the opportunity to get to know prospective students (and their parents) a little better as well as answer any questions you may have about our school. Enrolment interviews will be held in June for Prep families and throughout the year for other students. Offers of enrolment are made following the enrolment interview.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our STM Family!

Prep Transition Information

The Prep Transition Program at STM is designed to give your child the very best start to their Prep year.

Kindergarten Visit

A member of our Prep Team will visit students at kindergarten for an opportunity to interact with them in an environment in which they feel safe and comfortable.

Orientation Mornings

In November we begin our orientation sessions when students have the opportunity to visit STM, meet their future classmates and get to know the staff who may be working with them once they begin school.

Information Evening

We invite parents to attend a Prep Information Evening where you will meet our Prep teachers and find out more about your child's first year at school.

Orientation Morning with 2023 Class Teacher

At your child’s final orientation session, they will spend the morning in their classroom with their Prep teacher and new classmates.

Play in the Park

In January, the Parents Association hold an informal play date at a local park so that both children and parents can connect, support each other and plan to meet up again before starting school.

Please get in touch with any questions that you may have. All the very best as you make this important decision regarding primary school education for your family.

Prep Buddies

Every new Prep child receives a Year 5 Buddy in their first few weeks at school. At St Thomas More we use our Buddy program as a way to ensure every one of our new students feels safe, special, valued and connected. Throughout the year, buddy classes regularly get together to enjoy a range of fun learning activities to help students build strong, positive relationships.

The aims of the Buddy Program are to:

  • Ease the transition into Primary School for our Prep children by providing them with a safe, reliable and positive Buddy.

  • Foster a strong sense of belonging for students across the school.

  • Build student’s self-esteem, social skills and sense of community.

  • Develop leadership skills amongst the Year 5 students.

  • Teach students the value of caring for others, including others and responsibility.

  • Further enhance a culture of respect for one another.

Buddy Program for New Families

Every new family to STM is appointed a Buddy Family. This is a wonderful Parents’ Association initiative and assists new families in settling into our community.

Buddy Program for Families

A Buddy Family is a current family with a child in the same grade as the new family who can act as a resource for the new family as they get settled into school. Starting at a new school can be scary for students but also for parents. New parents can feel nervous about leaving their child in a new place, with new people, and even the most comfortable parents may find themselves with questions. Having a Buddy Family as a point of contact, even before school starts, gives our new families someone to ask or to turn to when they are seeking advice.

Hear from Our Community

A Word from
Our Students

"When I wake up I’m happy because I get to go to school and Mrs Verhagen says good morning to all the children. I love the nature in the school and the kookaburras. We learn about sustainability and being kind to the world by helping nature. My teacher is kind and helps me learn to do things the right way. Sometimes we have special days like Japanese Day. I love all my friends. St Thomas More is the best school in the world!"

Lily, Student

"I love going to school because the teachers are kind, I have lots of friends and I love learning new things at STM."

Our Parents

"STM is a beautiful school that nurtures its students and has built a warm and welcoming community. It’s focus on turning out resilient & engaged learners means that we are confident our children will be more than ready when it’s their turn to graduate."

Julia, Parent

"We love being part of a close knit school community where the focus is on learning, wellbeing and development of our children. Our boys are treated with care and respect and the school is big enough to provide opportunities while small enough to cater to their individual needs."

A Word from
Our Parents

"From our first visit to St Thomas More, we felt such a strong sense of community. The school leadership team, teachers and families work together and each child is valued for their unique strengths. The extensive, natural grounds allow the children to develop a passion for the world around them, guided by inspiring teachers who both nurture and challenge their students to achieve their best. Choosing a school is a huge decision for any family, and I feel lucky to be part of a community that truly cares about my child’s intellectual, spiritual and emotional growth."

Heidi, Parent

"As a former School Captain at St Thomas More Primary School, I want to tell you what I loved about STM and why it had a significant impact on me.

STM not only prepared me academically but the positive school culture also helped me achieve my goals and always strive for success. STM provided me with a safe, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere throughout my journey. They have given me the independence, confidence and resilience to support myself and those around me throughout my life. I am forever thankful for my time at this amazing school."
